Big Sur!

It was raining so much as we were making our way down the Big Sur coast that there was a mudslide around half way down and we had to turn around!

but lucky for us it got sunny on the way back!! yay!! we stopped and had a lovely lunch with an unbelievable view and then took a little walk on the cliffs....

DRIVINGGGGG to Monterey...

talk about culture shock. we go from peace and love organic yummy land to Louie Linguine's Seafood Shack in tourist trap Monterey. All we wanted was some fresh fish and Louie pulled thru for us...

the Comfort Inn was another story. We pay 100 bucks for a room and get to it and see that of all the rooms on the3rd floor ours is the only one with even a door handle. umm yeah no thanks. it was way creepy. so we go to get another room and startle the poor receptionist who is literally laying on a sleeping bag on the floor in his pajamas. we get our somewhat improved room, were still weirded out so we ended up getting our sleeping bags...

Road Trip: 2nd Day

that morning we got an early start after a lovely breakfast at Alice Water's Cafe Fanny we got on the road and headed up to Heartwood.....this beach was the first we got to see of the great Pacific. It was overcast but somehow did not matter at all...

more costumes!!



thai new years festival

this was a few weeks ago..i am running a little behind shall we say. this was so fun- it was held literally a few feet from our apt.
they shut down hollywood blvd for like 8 blocks and had everything from thai boxing to the cutest ever thai traditional childrens costume contest.

these ladies are so hot. i wish people would dress traditionally more often

i need to try this some time

this lady is cutting a durian fruit. "the king of fruits" smells like meat

check this guy out. he is like a gum wrapper shaman. hes been making this chain since 1965!!! its 9.1 mileslong!!! like omg. imagine if everyone were so productive
